Professor Edward Ontita leads CELARS project
The University of Nairobi hosted a kick-off consultancy meeting for stakeholders on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to establish the Centre for Land Acquisition and Resettlement Studies (CELARs), which will be located in Kilimani, Nairobi. Various stakeholders, including the Kenya National Highways Authority, World Bank, Kenya School of Government, and AKI consultants, attended the meeting. They discussed the different roles each organization will play to ensure the success of the project. Prof. Edward Ontita, from the Department of Sociology, Social Work and African Women Studies, announced that the World Bank committed Kshs. 1B for the establishment of the Centre of Excellence. The VC, Prof. Stephen Kiama, thanked World Bank for the grant and called for concerted efforts to get the project going. He pledged Management’s support for the successful implementation of the Centre.
